RSDSA is hosting a Facebook Live with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Pain Management Center on Thursday, May 13th at 7p Eastern to discuss the Care of CRPS and Chronic Pain Conditions.
The event will feature:
Maya Yuen, PT, OCS Cert MDT has over 17 years of clinical experience and has a specialty interest in spine care and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal pain. She is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and is certified in mechanical diagnosis and therapy. She enjoys participating in clinical education and has served on the Board of the Northwestern University-Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program. Since 2004, Maya has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association in the orthopedic section and has served as an Assembly Representative of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association. Over the past several years Maya has been the Clinical Manager for the Outpatient Musculoskeletal Therapy Department and, more recently, the Pain Management Center where she has had the opportunity to manage skilled and dedicated professionals while continuing to engage directly with patients.
Benjamin Katholi, DO received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois College and earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where he also completed an internship in internal medicine. After a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Minnesota, he completed a two-year fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pediatric rehabilitation. Areas of interest include medical acupuncture, microcurrent therapy, pediatric integrative medicine, chronic pediatric pain, pediatric gait disorders, orthotics and prosthetics, cerebral palsy, brachial plexus injuries, traumatic brain injury, and spasticity management including intrathecal baclofen pump, botulinum toxin injections and phenol neurolysis.
Diane Amstutz, PhD has worked as a rehabilitation psychologist for more than 30 years. She helped establish the adolescent pain management program at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab 13 years ago. She works with adolescents and their parents, as part of the treatment team, teaching pain and stress management tools. She, Dr. Revivo, and Dr. Katholi are focusing on outcomes, for both patients and parents who participate in their rehabilitation program, identifying the salient variables that lead to successful management. With her physician colleagues, she has co-authored several articles and book chapters on adolescent pain management.
Wendy Wurtzel PT, DPT graduated from the University of Florida in 2012 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Wendy is currently a Senior Physical Therapist at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Pain Management Center. Wendy specializes in working with adults and adolescents with chronic pain and POTS. She actively participates in the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, serving as an Assembly Representative and an iMAP mentor. Wendy is an Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and has an interest in mentoring and teaching physical therapy graduate students in the clinical and academic environment.
