TJ Whalen Patient Assistance Fund

The one-time Whalen grant is for long-term non-emergency financial expenses only.

In conjunction with the TJ Whalen Memorial Foundation, RSDSA has established a non-emergency assistance program fund to help with accessibility support, assistance programs, medical needs, and other non-emergency assistance to the CRPS community.

The TJ Whalen Memorial Foundation was formed in honor of Thomas John Whalen who was born in April 1989 and passed away in July 2019. TJ was diagnosed with CRPS in 2011 a few months after fracturing his wrist in a mountain bike accident.

Access the TJ Whalen Patient Assistance Fund application here.

The TJ Whalen Patient Assistance Fund can assist with:

  • Home accessibility improvements
  • Grants for work training or college expenses
  • Home care services with a home health aide
  • And much more!

Jenkins Patient Assistance Fund

The one-time Jenkins grant is for up to $1000 and for emergency financial expenses only.

In conjunction with the Jenkins family, RSDSA has established an emergency patient assistance fund to provide emergency financial aid to individuals with CRPS and their families. The fund is named in honor of Brad Jenkins, a young motorcycle racer who was injured during a race and developed CRPS.

Tragically, Brad’s life ended in an accidental overdose. The Jenkins family joined with RSDSA to create a fund in Brad’s honor to help others with CRPS.

Access the Jenkins Patient Fund application here.

Since its inception, the Jenkins Patient Assistance Fund, has helped individuals with CRPS in various ways. Some examples include:

  • Payments to stop utility shut-offs
  • Travel and lodging costs for individuals to consult with out-of-state pain specialists
  • Phone consultations with a pain psychologist for individuals with CRPS whose insurance refused to pay
  • For visits at a reduced fee with a pain specialist for an individual without insurance
  • Security deposits to move out of unsafe environments.

Please help RSDSA make a huge difference in the lives of people with CRPS by making a tax-deductible donation to our assistance funds today.
