Get your orange ready! The fifth-annual Color The World Orange for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Awareness is November 5.

Buildings, bridges and landmarks around the world will be lit orange on Nov. 5 including Niagara Falls, the Helmsley Building in New York, the Wrigley Building in Chicago, the CN Tower in Toronto, the Blackpool Tower in England and many more! In addition, a number of US politicians have granted proclamations recognizing Color The World Orange and November as CRPS/RSD Awareness Month.

The easiest way to get involved is to wear orange and post a picture to social media with the hashtag: #CRPSORANGEDAY. Make sure to ask friends, family, support groups and medical teams to wear orange as well.

We encourage the CRPS/RSD community to be creative and have fun! In the past supporters have held parties where everything is orange, some have hosted informational sessions with their doctor, while others have worked with their local schools and businesses. Some have even hung orange twinkle lights outside their house on the night of Color The World Orange to spread awareness!

Here are a few more suggestions:

  • Change your social media profiles to one of the Color The World Orange logos
  • Ask local businesses to hang signs advertising Color The World Orange and leave a basket of orange ribbons on the counter: https://bit.ly/2xeWmcT
  • Ask your medical team to display a Color The World Orange pamphlet in its waiting room: https://bit.ly/2rndaOy
  • Speak to your local newspaper or television station to request a story on CRPS/RSD. Visit the Color The World Orange Facebook page for a ‘Build Your Own Press Release’ you can use

Color The World Orange was started in 2014 to bring global attention to a disorder that, unfortunately, too few people understand. It is held annually on the first Monday of November to bring together all those affected for one common goal—CRPS/RSD awareness! For the fifth-annual event, together our voices will be heard. Let’s show the world that while we are in pain, we are strong.

The fourth annual Color the World Orange in 2017 was the largest yet with more than 100 buildings, bridges and landmarks around the world lit orange to spread awareness, including Niagara Falls, the fountains in Trafalgar Square in London, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and five Billboards in Times Square New York. With your support, we hope to make Color The World Orange 2018 the biggest yet!
